SK hynix's 2025 HBM output was indeed fully booked: at the March 2025 AGM Kwak confirmed 'this year's HBM supply volume has already sold out,' and the company went on to post record HBM-driven revenue and profit in 2025.
“We plan to provide samples of our next-generation 12-layer HBM3E chip to clients in May and begin mass production in the third quarter [of 2024].”
SK hynix announced on September 26, 2024 that it had begun mass production of the world's first 12-layer, 36GB HBM3E — inside the promised third quarter — after sampling in the spring.
“We will finalize discussions with customers about next year's [2026] HBM supply volume within the first half of this year to further enhance revenue stability.”
SK hynix did lock in its full 2026 HBM volumes, but the company only announced the 2026 supply discussions as 'completed' alongside its third-quarter results on October 28, 2025 — several months after the promised end-June deadline.
