“"With PJM's action... we're on track to make history ahead of schedule, helping America achieve energy independence, supercharge economic growth, and win the global AI race" — Three Mile Island Unit 1 / the Crane Clean Energy Center will restart as early as 2027, about a year ahead of the original 2028 target.”

As of September 2026 Constellation still targets 2027; FERC granted the Eddystone capacity-rights waiver in June 2026, the NRC issued a finding of no significant environmental impact, and a $1 billion DOE loan closed in November 2025.

“Constellation expects the Unit 1 reactor at Three Mile Island — to be renamed the Crane Clean Energy Center — to come back online in 2028, subject to Nuclear Regulatory Commission approval, returning 835 MW of carbon-free nuclear power to the grid under a 20-year power purchase agreement that matches the electricity Microsoft's data centers consume in the PJM region.”

Still on track as of September 2026: Constellation has since pulled the target forward to 2027, FERC approved a capacity-rights transfer from Eddystone in June 2026, and NRC restart review (including a finding of no significant environmental impact) is ongoing.

“It's hard not to conclude that the headlines are inflated. In fact, we've done the math, and if Nvidia were able to double its output and every single chip went to ERCOT, it still wouldn't be enough chips to support some of the load forecasts in ERCOT. (MISO, PJM and ERCOT account for less than half of total U.S. power demand, but they alone are projecting demand growth notably higher than a wide range of consultants for the entirety of the U.S.)”

Resolvable against realized load growth versus the ERCOT/PJM/MISO forecasts through 2030; ERCOT's large-load queue has continued to balloon, with ERCOT itself cautioning in 2026 that its own 4x forecast may be overstated.
